The next day I had arrived in Kuala Lumpur, my friend Murali took me to a famous zoo called Zoo Negara, which means National Zoo, and asked one of the Animal Trainers there if I could spend some days for my practice. To my pleasure, I was accepted as a volunteer student, and I'm going to spend time in the Animal Show section with the animal trainers! Fantastic!!
Well, to tell the truth, it is all indebted to a man whom I encountered 4 years ago. The man's name is Mr.Tony. I first met this man in Singapor Zoo when I was traveling with my elder sister just before I enter university. It was just a coincident. I and my sister were wondering around the way to go to the Zoo, and then a man (later turned out to be Mr.Tony) came to us and took us to the zoo. Then, not only that, he showed us around in the zoo whole day, explaining about the animals. You know what, he was working in this zoo as an animal trainer, and that day was his holiday. Now that I know him well, I can see that he just wanted to spend time with "girls", but anyway we fully enjoyed the zoo thanks to him, and also he was curious in the fact that I was gonna be a Veterinary student, we exchanged our numbers. But at that moment, I never imagined we would get so close to each other later.
The second time I met Mr.Tony, it was a coincident also. It was like a miracle! Well, it was 2 years ago, the summer vacation in the 3rd year of my university life, and I was planning to go to Borneo Island for an ecotour which had been introduced by my senior student. And I felt like I wanted to go to Singapore Zoo again, so I planed to visit Singapore too. I remembered the man in Singapore Zoo, so I called him several times, but no answer. I almost gave up contacting him. I gave it a try for the last time on the day before my departure. Then, finally, he answered! He still remembered me!! I called him again after I arrived in Singapore and we met again. He told me that he had been in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) when I called many times so that's why I couldn't reach him first. On the day I called, he just came back from KL and switched his Singapore mobile on. And the first phone call he had received was from me! Now he is working in a zoo in Kuala Lumpur, and we made an appointment to meet again in KL, which was not my plan at first. Every single factor in this trip was a coincident. Thank goodness, I was saved by Mr. Tony in KL, because I'd been very very sick when I arrived in KL airport from Borneo food. He took care of me like a doctor and I soon recovered. The next day, he took me to his zoo and introduced me to the zoo owner Mr.Alan. This encounter gave me another strong connection to zoos in Kuala Lumpur. Yes, absolutely, it was like a miracle!
Now, coming back to the topic of Zoo Negara, I was accepted as a volunteer student in the Animal Show section. I was accepted so easily because I told the supervisor that "I'm a frined of Mr.Tony". All the animal trainers here were taughed by Mr.Tony, so they all respected him. My friend Murali is also learning animal training from him, and is trusted by him. So he spoke on behalf of Mr.Tony that I'd like to learn how to train animals, and then, they kindly said "No problem" to me.
Actually, Mr.Tony is now in Singapore due to his relatives problem so he's not with me, but I really appreciate him for this wonderful opportunity.
